Aukey DR-H1 HD Dashcam

Review, Specs and User Manual for the AUKEY DR-H1 Dash Camera

Aukey DashcamThe Aukey DR-H1 Dashcam is one of the more discreet and hidden dash cams currently on the market that is priced under $100 and offers full HD video. Aukey dashcam is a versatile, 1080P rotatable car video camera, highly useful for private car owners, taxi drivers, and goods vehicles alike. The dashboard camerahas a G-Sensor, WDR technology, and 140 degree wide angle HD lens that captures every minute detail of the incident. The inbuilt mic records conversations, traffic noises, and other sounds for complete audio-visual log; you can mute the mic though if you don’t want to use it. The cam supports loop recording in lengths of 1, 3 and 5 minutes; it keeps recording new files till the storage space in the memory card gets exhausted, after which it starts rewriting the old files.

Aukey dashcam is extremely easy to set up, and you can operate it with minimal technical experience. All you need to do is choose an optimal position to place the camera for the best view. It turns on and off automatically with the ignition of your vehicle. Since there is no internal battery involved, there is absolutely no danger of overheating, fire or any other safety hazard. Like all other capacitor based dashcams, this one too is good for extremely hot or cold climatic conditions. However, not having an internal battery has some drawbacks as well – the device forgets date and other settings as soon as you turn off the car. Likewise, it won’t offer any safety when your car engine is off, e.g. in the parking lot.

Video quality of day time recording is extremely good; it records sharp pictures and true colors in sufficient light conditions. Night time recording is not bad either; it’s comparable with that of other high-end dashcams but you may not be able to read number plates of other vehicles. Audio quality is surprisingly superb.

Aukey Dash cameraThe camera does not have any display system but you can play back the HD/FHD recording on your car DVD or GPS screen without any distortion. You will also need an external display to set the date and time for the device. It supports TF memory card of up to 32 GB capacity (to be bought separately) which is good enough to record for 7 to 8 hours at 720 pixels.

Thanks to the ultra-compact, meticulous design, Aukey dashcam blends well with the interior of your vehicle, and is compatible with almost all types of vehicles. It can easily mount behind the rear view mirror of the car without being noticed. The wires however will run around the windshield while making their way to the power source but then that’s the case with most dashcams out there.

The high quality materials used in its design add additional protection and durability to the product. The video clips captured by the dashcam can be used as evidence in insurance disputes; thus it can lower your insurance premiums as well. Apart from road safety, you can also use this car cam to record your vacation and leisure trips.
