Review, Full Specs and User Manual for TaoTronics TT-CD05 Dashcam
TaoTronics TT-CD05 is a small, light weight, full HD car dashboard camera that has a 2.7 inches LCD screen to display live footage. You can also connect it to a TV or a personal computer through an HDMI cable to playback recorded clips. Fitted with superior quality night vision lenses, this is a super wide angle dashcam that can capture at 150 degrees wide field of view without any distortion, fish eye or curly images. The WDR technology further adds to the clarity of the recording.
It records full HD videos at a resolution of 1080p / 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 fps in a continuous loop, and also locks the important files from being overwritten during an impact or collision. The video recording is crisp and clear. People’s faces and vehicle license plates can be easily identified. However, if your car’s windshield is not clean, you may have difficulty in viewing license plates of oncoming vehicles. You should also avoid direct sun rays on your camera in order to prevent glaring.
The G-sensor is highly sensitive. It detects even some abrupt stops and movements in the vehicle and immediately locks the recorded files against rewriting.
The mic is powerful enough to pick up even the slightest sound inside the vehicle. Whether you are singing along, using your blinkers or talking with a police officer during a traffic stop… everything goes recorded. So, if you don’t want to record the audio, then better mute the mic.
Apart from video recording, you can also use this TaoTronics car camera to take instant photos. All you need to do is push a button whenever you want to take a photograph. Pushing the button again will send it back to the recording mode. It also allows you to add license plates to the recording. Some other setting options include changing video format, adjusting white balance, changing video resolution, turning date stamp on/off, and so on. One distinct feature that sets apart TT-CD05 from other dashcams is that you can set it to record one long video instead of 3 to 5 minute looped recordings.
You can set up the device straight out of the box using the supplied accessories like windshield mount, USB cable, car charger and the memory card. First connect the vehicle DVR to the car holder, then place the USB cable and finally connect the device to the car charger. Once set up, the operation is 100% automated; it automatically switches on and off along with the car ignition. The dashcam supports and comes with a SanDisk microSD card of 32 GB. At a resolution of 1080 pixels, it can record for about 5 to 6 hours of video whereas at 720 pixels, it can last for about 8 hours before the rewriting begins.
If you are sick of low quality dash cams but don’t have a budget for high-end cameras, then TaoTronics TT-CD05 is a pretty good deal. It’s free from glitches, offers good features and comes with 30-day money back warranty and 12 month replacement warranty.
