AMACAM AM-C65 Dash Cam Review

AMACAM AM-C65 Dash CamThe AM-C65 is a stylish dash camera that manages to squeeze an impressive set of features into a compact build. Included in the box is the usual suction mount, power and USB cables, a car charger, some clips and the unit itself. There are some extra pieces of literature like a customer care card, a window security decal and the user manual. The included accessories add significant value to the camera and will save you money later down the line.

Visually, the AM-C65 is far from an eyesore, with a high grade, black faux leather finish on the front side and a solid polycarbonate build all-round. The unit is highly compact but still manages to fit the usual features most modern dash cameras have. On the sides are the standard ports for power and storage, as well as USB connection. The back features a neat 2 inch LCD display and below that you will find some mode and navigation buttons. The top and bottom of the unit are minimal, with nothing other than the socket to insert the suction mount. This results in a clean but functional design that will compliment any car interior without sticking out too much.

AMACAM AM-C65 Dash CameraEven though the AM-C65 is around the size of half a credit card in general shape, the lens hardly protrudes out of the body which means you won’t have to worry about damaging it. It is also significantly smaller than the previous AMACAM AM-C60 model, yet still offers full HD video. The camera itself features a Sony CMOS Image Sensor that is capable of capturing Full HD video at a smooth 30 fps. Amacam doesn’t specify the camera’s low-light capabilities but it tends to perform well enough, although it probably isn’t the best solution for night drivers. The unit does have a G-sensor which allows it to record automatically upon impact and will also store GPS data and a date stamp at the same time. The lens has a reasonably wide 140 degree angle but does not rotate or move, which means you’ll only be able to record in one direction.

The 2 inch LCD on the unit is rather minimal, it does feature a GPS display, route logger and map view. One bonus is that the screen itself is high definition, which for it’s size, is impressive and further eliminates the need to connect to another device to see what you’ve recorded. Speaking of which, the unit does have built-in WiFi which allows you to easily connect to the dashcam with your smartphone and when at home you can easily connect it to your other devices via the included USB cable. There is no software included but this isn’t really a problem as it makes the transfer process quick and easy, you can however visit the link below to download an APP for your smartphone that works with Android and IOS for the AM-C65. There isn’t any included storage so you’ll have to get a Micro SD card. The AM-C65 supports up to 32GB of storage and for optimal performance you’ll want to get a higher end one that’s at least Class 10. Amacam also recommends that you format the card every 2 weeks as it will assist in the loop recording cycle stability and performance. It’s also a good idea to periodically hook your dash cam up to your computer and download some video files and make sure they are saving properly. This should be done on all dash cams as a safety precaution, not just the AM-C65.

The Amacam AM-C65 is a straight-forward dash camera with all the features that a standard dash camera has, but in a more compact and premium body. Amacam also has online technical support and the camera comes with a 1 year warranty and a 30 day money back guarantee. The AM-C65 is selling for less than $100 and for the price, its definitely a considerable purchase for anyone who takes safety seriously or just wants to record their scenic drives. This camera would be a great full time front camera for catching car accidents or insurance fraud, and because of its low price, it would also work well as a 2nd rear camera for your car.
