Vantrue N2S Dash Cam Review

Vantrue N2S Dash Cam Review

The N2S from Vantrue is a dual dash cam setup featuring a front facing camera and an interior facing cabin cam. It is capable of shooting 4K on the front camera and 1080p on the interior camera, or you can have them both set to record 2K video. The N2S dash cam is designed for Uber, Lyft and taxi drivers who want to record audio and video of their passengers, as well as the road in front for accidents.

This Uber dash cam is a good mid price ranged dash cam with plenty of options for just about any rideshare driver looking to have a dual camera setup in their car.

The N2S comes in a small tube shaped design that makes it relatively discrete and not too obtrusive for your passengers.

Below we have done a full review on the Vantrue N2S covering all the basic features, pros and cons, spec and sample videos.

N2S Dash Cam Features

Video Quality

The Vantrue N2S is one of the few Uber dash cams that offers true 4K video recording. There is a catch with recording 4K video though on the N2S and it’s that it can only record 4K video when you are only using the front camera and not on a dual camera recording mode. If you want to use both the front camera and interior camera at the same time, you can only record 2K video on each camera.

Both of the cameras use the Sony STARVIS image sensor, which are known for their clear and crisp video quality, both day and night.

The interior facing cabin cam has real night vision, using 4 Infrared LEDs (not visible to the naked eye). This will allow you to record passengers in the back of your car in total darkness.

Video Storage and Loop Recording

The N2S does not have any internal memory. It requires a microSD card to save video files.

Vanture N2S supports a 256GB microSD card or smaller (best memory card for dash cam)

It uses “loop recording”, which basically means that the dash cam will automatically write over the oldest files and loop back around. So, the memory card never gets full.

What size memory card should you get?

If all you want the N2S for is to capture an accident, which is usually less than a couple minutes of video, you won’t need a huge microSD card. We recommend a 16GB microSD card. Make sure it’s a “Class 10”, which is what most microSD cards are that you would find at Best Buy, Walmart or on Amazon.

Do both the front and interior cameras need their own memory card?

No, you only need one memory card for both the front and interior cameras. They will both save video files to one microSD card.

What’s the difference between the N2 Pro and N2S?

N2 Pro VS. N2S – The main difference between the newer NS2 dash cam and the N2 Pro is that the newer N2S records video in a higher resolution of 4K. The N2S front lens angle is slightly smaller at 155°, where as the N2 Pro has a front lens angle of 170°

Does the N2S come with WiFi?

No, the NS2 does not have wifi for remote connectivity. To make dash cam setting changes you can use the built-in 2 inch LCD screen to access the menu right on the dash cam. To download files you will need to either remove the microSD card and insert it into your computer, or use the USB data cable.

Parking Mode Features

The Vanture N2S dash cam has some parking mode features you can use to protect your car when you are away.

The first parking mode option is impact detection which will automatically start recording if a major impact is detected, like a hit and run in a parking lot. The 2nd option is motion detection that will record any time it detects motion through the front or interior facing camera. This could potentially record the face of a person breaking into your car.

In order to use these parking mode features the dash cam needs a constant power source. This can be achieved with a hardwire kit (about $15) or an external battery bank.

Final Verdict on the N2S Dash Cam

Overall we think this is one of the best rideshare (Front + Interior Camera) dash cams for sale in 2021. Vantrue is a reputable dash cam manufacturer that stands behind their products. The price point on the N2S is reasonable as well, putting it in the “mid” price range.

Along with good video quality you get the option of using its more advanced parking mode features as well.

We recommend the N2S dash cam for rideshare drivers out there who want to protect themselves from false claims and fraud while out there driving.
